In the castle treasury, you can also see the Danish crown jewels and royal regalia displayed inside secure chambers beneath the palace.
Christiansborg Palace
Next, we visit Christiansborg Palace on Slotsholmen. This impressive complex houses Denmark’s parliament, the prime minister’s office, and the supreme court. Walking through the courtyards and grand halls reveals the country’s political center. Christianshavn Canals
Later in the afternoon, we explore Christianshavn, a district known for its canals and maritime atmosphere. Day 6 – Roskilde to Odense

Crossing the Little Belt Bridge

Upon arriving in Aarhus, we visit Den Gamle By open-air museum. Walking through reconstructed streets reveals how Danish towns looked across different historical periods. Original buildings relocated from across the country create entire neighborhoods where traditional shops and workshops demonstrate historic crafts.
Aarhus Waterfront
Later, we walk along Aarhus’s harbor district where modern architecture and cultural buildings sit beside the water. Cafés and public spaces line the waterfront, creating a lively atmosphere as locals gather along the harbor promenade.

Day 8 – Silkeborg Lakes

Today, your driver-guide takes you inland to explore the lake district of central Jutland.

The first stop is the network of lakes surrounding the town of Silkeborg. Later, we spend time exploring Silkeborg, a charming town set between lakes and rivers in the heart of central Denmark. Walking through the town center, you’ll pass cafés, local shops, and quiet streets that lead down to the waterfront. Along the riverside paths, you can watch boats passing through the water while locals gather along the edge of the lake.

Day 9 – Jelling and Vejle Fjord

Today, your driver-guide leads the journey south through central Jutland toward historic Viking landmarks.
Jelling Viking Monuments
The first stop is Jelling, home to Denmark’s most famous Viking monuments. The site includes two massive burial mounds and rune stones erected by King Harald Bluetooth in the 10th century. Walking around the monuments reveals the location where Denmark first emerged as a unified kingdom.
Jelling Church
Beside the rune stones stands the small white church of Jelling. Visiting the church and surrounding grounds reveals how Viking history and early Christianity intersected in Denmark. The site is now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage location.
Vejle Fjord
Later in the day, the journey continues toward Vejle Fjord, where forested hills rise above the water. Scenic viewpoints along the fjord reveal one of Denmark’s most beautiful coastal landscapes before continuing the drive east toward Zealand.
