Day 1: Arrival in Iceland & Journey to West Iceland

After landing at Keflavík International Airport, your private driver-guide will meet you and begin your journey into the dramatic landscapes of West Iceland.
Rather than heading directly to your accommodation, the day is designed as a gentle introduction to Iceland’s natural elements, combining geothermal experiences, volcanic landscapes, and scenic countryside.
Hvammsvík Hot Springs Experience
Your first stop brings you to Hvammsvík, a secluded geothermal retreat set along the edge of a fjord.
Here, naturally heated pools blend seamlessly with the surrounding ocean, creating a unique bathing experience where warm mineral waters meet the cool Atlantic tides. As you soak, you’ll take in sweeping coastal views, with rugged mountains rising behind you and open sea stretching ahead.
This is a moment to unwind after your journey, allowing you to settle into Iceland’s slower rhythm. Following your time in the المياه, you may relax in the on-site bistro with light refreshments before continuing your journey inland.
Deildartunguhver – Europe’s Most Powerful Hot Spring
Continuing into the countryside, you’ll arrive at Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe.
From viewing platforms, watch as boiling water surges from the earth at extraordinary force, sending steam into the air. Your guide will explain how this geothermal energy is harnessed to heat nearby communities, offering insight into Iceland’s relationship with its volcanic landscape.
Hraunfossar & Barnafoss Waterfalls
A short drive brings you to one of West Iceland’s most striking natural contrasts.
At Hraunfossar, clear glacial water emerges gently from beneath a lava field, flowing through dark volcanic rock before cascading into the river below. The scene is calm and almost surreal in its quiet beauty.
Nearby, Barnafoss presents a completely different character. Here, the river forces its way through a narrow canyon, creating fast-moving rapids and powerful currents. Your guide will share the local folklore tied to the falls, adding a layer of cultural depth to the landscape.
Arrival in Reykholt
From here, continue through the scenic countryside to your accommodation in the Reykholt area.
After check-in, the evening is at leisure, allowing you to relax and take in the peaceful surroundings of West Iceland.
Overnight in Reykholt Area.
Day 2: The Golden Circle & Countryside Lodge

On day 2 of our itinerary, your private driver will collect you from your accommodation as you set out to explore Iceland’s dramatic scenery.
Þingvellir National Park
Walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates at this UNESCO-listed site.
Beyond its geological wonder, this valley is where Iceland’s first parliament was founded in 930 AD. Your guide weaves Viking history and political intrigue into the landscape.
Geysir Geothermal Area & Gullfoss Waterfall
Witness Strokkur erupt every few minutes, sending boiling water skyward in a dramatic plume. Steam vents hiss from the earth as geothermal energy rushes beneath your feet.
Stand before the mighty two-tiered cascade as it plunges into a glacial canyon. On sunny days, mist rises in rainbows above roaring waters.
Optional additions:
- Snowmobile experience atop Langjökull Glacier
- Lunch at Friðheimar greenhouse farm
By afternoon, you continue south toward your countryside lodge near the South Coast, surrounded by open landscapes and big skies.
Overnight in South Iceland.
Day 3: South Coast Waterfalls, & Black Sand Beaches

Iceland’s south coast unfolds today in a sequence of dramatic landscapes, where waterfalls plunge from volcanic cliffs and glaciers stretch toward the sea.
Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls
Your first stop is Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most distinctive waterfalls.
Here, a narrow cascade drops from a moss-covered cliff into a shallow pool below. A walking path allows you to step behind the waterfall itself, offering a rare perspective where you are fully surrounded by the sound and movement of water, with light filtering through the falling veil.
Just a short walk away lies Gljúfrabúi, a hidden waterfall tucked within a narrow canyon. Enter through a small opening in the rock to discover water cascading dramatically within an enclosed space, echoing off the canyon walls. The contrast between the openness of Seljalandsfoss and the intimacy of Gljúfrabúi creates one of the most memorable moments of the day.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Along the coast near Vík, Reynisfjara reveals one of Iceland’s most striking shorelines.
Towering basalt columns rise beside the beach, while powerful Atlantic waves roll onto the black volcanic sand. Offshore, the jagged Reynisdrangar sea stacks stand like ancient guardians rising from the ocean.
By evening, the landscape softens into glacial plains as you arrive in the Jökulsárlón region, where drifting icebergs meet the open sea.
Overnight in Vik.
Day 4: Canyons & Vatnajökull National Park

Today, your journey continues deeper into Iceland’s southeastern landscapes.
Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon Experience
Begin the morning at Fjaðrárgljúfur, a striking canyon carved over thousands of years by glacial meltwater.
Follow the walking paths along its winding edge, where sheer cliffs rise above a narrow river that snakes through the gorge below. From various viewpoints, take in the scale and serenity of the landscape, with moss-covered rock formations and soft, shifting light adding to the atmosphere.
Skaftafell Nature Reserve & Svartifoss Waterfall
Continue onward into Vatnajökull National Park, arriving at the Skaftafell Nature Reserve, a lush and contrasting environment set between glaciers and volcanic terrain.
Along the way, your guide will point out features of the surrounding terrain, explaining how glaciers, lava, and time have shaped the area.
Your destination is Svartifoss, a unique waterfall framed by dark basalt columns that resemble a natural amphitheater. The geometric formations, created by cooling lava, provide a striking contrast to the flowing water, making this one of the most visually distinctive sites in Iceland.
Take time to enjoy the setting before making your way back through the reserve.
Arrival in Skaftafell / Kirkjubæjarklaustur Area
Day 5: Glacial Landscapes & Ice Lagoon Experience

Today is dedicated to one of Iceland’s most extraordinary natural environments, where glaciers, ice, and ocean converge to create a constantly evolving landscape.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Begin at Jökulsárlón, a vast glacial lagoon formed by the retreat of Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.
Here, large icebergs break away from the glacier and drift slowly across the still, reflective waters before making their way toward the sea. The scene is ever-changing, with blocks of ice in shades of blue and white moving silently through the lagoon.
With luck, you may spot seals moving between the icebergs, adding life to the otherwise tranquil landscape.
Private Zodiac Boat Experience
These smaller, agile boats allow you to navigate between the icebergs and approach the glacier more closely than larger vessels.
As you move across the water, you’ll gain a new perspective on the size, texture, and color of the ice formations.
Diamond Beach
Just across the road from the lagoon lies Diamond Beach, where icebergs that have drifted out to sea are returned to shore by the waves.
Here, fragments of clear and blue ice rest on the black volcanic sand, creating a striking contrast that changes with the light and tide. Walk along the shoreline as waves move around the ice, shaping and repositioning each piece.
Your guide will highlight the best areas to explore and photograph, while explaining how each fragment completes its journey from glacier to ocean and back to land.
Return to Skaftafell / Klaustur Area
Day 6: South Coast Landscapes & Return to Reykjavík

Today, you begin your journey back toward Reykjavík, with a final opportunity to explore the dramatic landscapes of Iceland’s South Coast along the way.
Hafursey Mountain & Volcanic Landscapes
As you travel westward, pass through the vast black sand plains and volcanic terrain that define this region.
A highlight of the route is Hafursey, a striking tuya mountain rising abruptly from the surrounding landscape. Formed by volcanic eruptions beneath ice during the last Ice Age, its distinctive shape offers a powerful reminder of the forces that have shaped Iceland over millennia.
Pause to take in the scale and stillness of the area, where wide open spaces and dark volcanic earth create a stark and memorable setting.
Gígjagjá (Yoda Cave) Experience
This unique formation reveals the raw geological character of Iceland, with rugged cliffs and volcanic textures exposed by centuries of erosion.
The cave’s opening, often referred to as “Yoda Cave,” frames the landscape in a distinctive way, creating a natural viewpoint that is both striking and unexpected. Take time to explore the area and appreciate the contrast between the dark volcanic rock and the open landscapes beyond, while your guide shares insight into the site’s formation and its place within Iceland’s natural and cultural history.
